The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution at Phoenix is looking for a qualified person to join us as a Building Trade/Construction Occupation Trades Teacher. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Building Trade/Construction Occupation Trades Teacher for the Department of Corrections, you are responsible for the instruction and training of inmate students in the vocational area of building trades, custodial maintenance, and other closely related job skills. You are required to present through both hands-on instruction and theory. Your responsibilities include evaluating and determining inmate potential for the program, updating and maintaining inmate education records, and establishing rules and regulations and monitoring to ensure inmate compliance.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week Work hours are 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM, Monday to Friday, with 30-minute lunch. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Please check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.   REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Education equivalent to high school graduation and two years wage earning experience beyond the completed apprenticeship period in the specified parenthetical; or If there is no approved apprenticeship period for the specified parenthetical, education equivalent to high school graduation and three years of wage earning experience in the specified parenthetical. Please Note: The specified parenthetical for this posting is Building Trades/Custodial Maintenance and Repair. Special Requirements: Possession of or eligibility for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Instructional Certificate I or II for the specified parenthetical; or Possession of or eligibility for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Intern Certificate for the specified parenthetical; or Eligibility for a Pennsylvania Department of Education Emergency Certificate for the specified parenthetical.Condition of Employment:

Employees who are teaching school age youth must maintain the minimum teaching certification for the specified parenthetical as defined by the Pennsylvania Department of Education's current regulations.
