Job Description
The Program Coordinator I, under general supervision, coordinates the planning, development and implementation of academic and departmental programs for the Department of Food Science and Technology.
Responsibilities:
Plans and implements program events such as scholarship awards ceremonies, conferences, graduate seminars, lectures, departmental/committee meetings, and graduate workshops.
Coordinates and administers scholarship programs, including managing applications, preparing award letters, maintaining required records, and ensuring compliance with scholarship guidelines.
Coordinates and administers student travel awards.
Coordinates travel for graduate seminar speakers, as well as graduate and undergraduate travel for departmental-sponsored events such as field trips and industry visits.
Oversees graduate program administration: admissions, inquiries, acceptance letters, employment offer letters, graduate student annual evaluations, orientation, and other related tasks.
Assists with international visa requirements for graduate students.
Compiles program statistics for annual reports and surveys.
Maintains records and databases related to program.
Assists with academic program support: course and program assessments, FSTC curriculum and program updates, course renewals.
Manages room scheduling for FSTC courses.
Develops and updates recruiting materials, course catalogs, and the graduate handbook.
May supervise student workers.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
