What We Want

The Program Coordinator II for Undergraduate Student Academic Success will coordinate, assist in the development, and implement the programming for various undergraduate student success programs, including, but not limited to, First to Finish, Regent Scholars, and Leadership Scholars. The Program Coordinator II will be responsible for implementing efforts to assist Arts & Sciences’ students, especially first-generation students, in the acquisition of academic, social, and professional skills. Additionally, the Program Coordinator II will assist in first year and multi-year programming. What You Need to Know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.

Schedule: Position may require occasional evening and weekend hours and may require occasional travel.

Location: This is an in-person role. The selected candidate will be expected to work on our College Station campus.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Four years of program management experience including some course management and academic counseling

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work with people and be helpful, respectful, approachable, and team oriented

  • Ability to build strong working relationships and a positive work environment

  • Knowledge of spreadsheet, and database applications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree

  • More than five years of experience in program management including some course management and academic counseling, and classroom instruction

  • Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationships

  • Familiarity with TAMU portals, such as Argos, Navigate, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordination and Implementation of Undergraduate Student Success Programming: Coordinates planning, development, and implementation of other undergraduate student programs to improve first year retention and empower first year students to succeed academically, professionally, and socially. Assists with the development, and updates training materials and course content for success programming. Provides data for reports related to various programs’ progress. Assists in establishing short- and long-term goals and strategic planning. Attends local, regional, and national professional meetings related to student success, and first generation and/or underrepresented student success. Assists with the development of transition and retention initiatives that are informed by best practices in higher education to address needs of first year, first generation, and/or underrepresented students. Assist peer Program Coordinators and Program Managers, and other Student Success administrators. Evaluates student experiences success programming. Assists with the preparation of reports on success program activities. Responds to inquiries from students, faculty and others regarding program policies, procedures, and requirements, making referrals as appropriate. Uses various TAMU portals to provide up-to-date information, and to provide data on first-year programming. Collaborates and maintains successful working partnerships with faculty, academic advisors, and specialty support programs

  • Student Mentor Oversight: Direct oversight of the coordination and assignment of student mentors for success programming, including recruitment, selection, hiring, training, and evaluation. Mentors peer mentors each semester.

  • Hullabaloo U Course: Teaches a minimum of one Hullabaloo U section for the college in an academic year and performs other duties as assigned.
