This position is full-time, Monday-Friday, and is based out of our Cohoes location.
The Systems/Network Administrator position plays a key role in maintaining server and/or network hardware and software, while also monitoring the systems to ensure availability to all users.The Systems/Network Administrator is tasked with installing, configuring, and supporting key components of our server infrastructure, local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), internet connectivity, or other systems.
This individual must have a proven ability to successfully develop technical solutions in a variety of environments while taking into account a multitude of constraints. Knowledge of Active Directory domains, and/or network switching and routing concepts is required, and VoIP experience is desirable. Frequent travel within the Capital District is required to support various IT projects in the field. This position will report to the Director of IT Infrastructure. Duties and Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and support key systems such as the server infrastructure, local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), internet connectivity, telephony, or other systems
Design and implement technical solutions to meet or exceed business requirements
Lead and/or participate in projects
Monitor, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems
Perform equipment and software maintenance as scheduled
Operate network and server management and reporting systems
Escalation point for technical issues
Advise and test new solutions and technologies
Perform routine systems startup and shutdown procedures, and maintain control records
Maintain documentation related to systems functions, as well as maintenance and repair records
Requirements:
Associates degree required (4 years of relevant experience would be considered in lieu of an Associates degree), Bachelors degree is preferred
Excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask are required
Valid NYS driver’s license in good standing
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
At least 3 years of related experience, specifically in more than one of the following:
Server and SAN hardware administration
Windows server administration
VMware server administration
VoIP telephony administration
Firewall and VPN administration
Routing, switching, and wireless administration
Active Directory, DHCP, DNS administration
Data backup administration
Enterprise anti-malware administration
Specialized training, license, certification, or skills preferred:
A systems certification such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), or Server+
A networking certification such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or Network +
Other advance IT certification
The compensation range for this position is $73,507.20 - $76,377.60 annually. Rate of pay is commensurate with experience.
