Description

Our Health Promotion department has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Administrative Assistant (AA1) to work in the Hayden office. This position will provide administrative support to the Health Promotion, Immunizations and Epidemiology teams. The desired candidate will have excellent organization and time management skills; solid knowledge of MS Office applications; strong attention to detail and exceptional work ethic.

Example of Duties

  • Coordinates billing for various programs

  • Provides clerical support to various Health Promotions programs

  • Maintains voucher program database

  • Completes monthly reporting for multiple programs

  • Answers phones and assists clients as necessary

  • Responsible for copying, faxing, scheduling and other clerical tasks

Minimum Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of office support functions including word processing

  • Demonstrated experience interpreting, applying and explaining complex information such as regulations, policies or services. Gained by one year of work experience in a related setting.

  • Demonstrated work experience independently solving problems/performing liaison activities. Gained by at least one year of educational or work experience in a related setting.

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating activities requiring complex arrangements. Gained by at least one year of work experience coordinating complex arrangements for at least one major activity which included two or more responsibilities such as: travel, registration, accommodation negotiations, coordinating volunteers, audiovisual support, coordinating/selecting speakers, planning meals, designing forms, publicity, and entertainment.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Some knowledge of the core functions and essential services of public health

  • A strong desire to improve community health

  • Ability to promote public health services

  • Experience with MS Office programs

Public health employees must be willing to participate in public health emergency preparedness activities and training and may be asked to perform activities within their skill levels that are not part of their normal jobs. During emergency situations, employees may be asked to work hours outside of the normal work day to assist with emergency response activities.

Office Support Operations:

I have at least one year of work experience performing a wide variety of secretarial support functions; OR, I have formal training consisting of successful completion of an 18-24 month office administration course of study beyond high school. This coursework should have resulted in an Associate (A.A.) degree or equivalent to be qualifying.
