Rig Hand Job Description

 

Job Title: Rig Hand Job Classification: Full-time, non-exempt/hourly Job Location: Geneva, PA Compensation: From $18 per hour, depending on experience Reports To: Rig Manager

Rig Hand Job Summary

The Rig Hand position supports daily operations at an oil and gas service or plugging rig. The position is diverse, and tasks may vary daily. The Rig Hand works with equipment they are qualified to operate, such as hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment. This position requires working in all types of inclement and extreme weather conditions. The position also requires a commitment to delivering a high level of service, following safety rules, federal and state laws, and regulations, and always representing the company in a highly professional and courteous manner.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Set well equipment at well locations.
  • Install and repair piping, valves, pumps, and motors.
  • Install and repair flow lines.
  • Walk flow lines to locate leaks, make visual inspections, and repair leaks.
  • Move pipes, casing, and rods.
  • Assemble or repair equipment using hand and power tools.
  • Operate backhoes, skid steers, or other moving or lifting equipment.
  • Secure and safely transport equipment according to DOT regulations.
  • Perform general cleanup duties on well site locations and at the yard.
  • Install and make repairs to oil and produced water tanks, including confined space entry.
  • Assist with clean-up of spills.
  • Work and commit to a company-wide culture that ensures that Safety is everybody's business.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED preferred.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of oil and gas operations experience is preferred.
  • Experience working as a rig hand, including proficiency with all types of tools and equipment, is preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of DOT regulations preferred.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • The candidate must pass the company drug screen and background check before employment.
  • The candidate must be willing and able to work in a field environment in all weather and noisy environments.
  • The candidate must also be able to use hands, arms, and legs to manage, install, position, move materials, and manipulate things.
  • Requires ability to sit, stand, walk, lift heavy materials, carry, push, pull, climb stairs and ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, bend repeatedly, and reach high and low. This is a physically demanding position.

Compensation

Approximately 40-50 hours per week, Monday-Friday, first (day turn) shift. The hourly rate ranges from $18 per hour, depending on experience. Eligible for Per Diem when working on well sites located out of town.
