Drivers are responsible to safely transport students from one place to another. Drivers should stay mentally alert at all times and be aware of all surroundings.

Drivers must maintain:

• A valid driver's license
• A valid Pennsylvania CDL and school bus endorsement
• A valid physical examination certificate
• A valid Certificate of Completion card

Drivers must be fit to operate a school bus with regard to the health and safety of the students being transported, including but not limited to:

• Comply with the PA Dept of Health and any local school district regulations and policies regarding communicable diseases
• Have a clean history record as evidenced by PA State Police criminal history check
• Have a clean child abuse history record
• Have no record of motor vehicle crashes or traffic violations determined to be excessive in number by your employer
• Complete FBI clearance checks (fingerprinting)
• Be drug and alcohol free when driving; Drivers must not consume any alcoholic beverages within eight hours prior to operating a school bus and are never permitted to consume illegal substances.

CDL Drivers are subject to unannounced random drug and alcohol testing throughout the year. Random alcohol testing must be conducted just before, during, or just after a driver's performance of safety sensitive duties.
