Our Bellevue Design Center is looking for a Structural Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team that specializes in innovative engineering solutions for inland navigation structures, waterfront facilities, dams, hydropower projects, bridges, flood risk reduction, and fish passage structures. This role offers the chance to work alongside industry leaders and local experts, tackling projects that shape the future of critical infrastructure. As part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to grow your technical design expertise and project management skills while working on complex and rewarding projects. Current and upcoming projects include: New Lock Final Design: Tetra Tech is designing a new 1200' navigation lock to be part of the U.S. Inland Waterway Navigation System. Work will include designing lock walls, guide walls and hydraulic gates. At a second new 1200' lock project, Tetra Tech is developing design criteria, developing construction methodologies, and designing upstream and downstream guide walls. Dam and Reservoir Design: Tetra Tech is currently performing the 30% design for a new reservoir and four new dams in Colorado. The structural design will include preliminary design for two concrete dams, spillways, stilling basins, outlet works, and inlet works. Spillway Design: Our team is designing a new dam spillway capable of passing both floods while accommodating downstream fish passage. As a Structural Engineer at Tetra Tech, your primary focus will be to:
- Design and analyze civil works structures such as navigation locks, floodwalls, dam components, bridges, and pump stations.
- Produce detailed calculations and engineering solutions tailored to project needs.
- Develop and interpret structural design plans while performing quality control reviews of calculations, drawings, and quantities.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to research design options and document findings.
- Support construction efforts by reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and ensuring designs align with project requirements.
To be a successful Structural Engineer in this role, you'll need to have:
- A bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering (a master's degree is preferred).
- 5+ years of relevant structural engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
- Expertise in structural concrete and steel design, along with proficiency in developing structural drawings.
- Experience with structural design tools such as SAP2000, SAFE, LPILE, GROUP, and ANSYS, as well as BIM/CAD platforms like AutoCAD and Revit.
- A strong understanding of structural design codes, standards, and methodologies.
- Demonstrated analytical, written, and verbal communication skills to support both technical and client-facing responsibilities.
