Description:
Provides support to the ongoing development and operation of the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program (“ICP”). Work activities include, but are not limited to, conflicts of interest disclosure processes, exclusions screening activities, reporting of ICP activities to senior management and governance, serving as liaison to Regional Health Ministries as it relates to certain ICP processes, research of new and emerging legal and regulatory issues impacting corporate compliance programs, development and maintenance of system ICP policies and procedures, periodic risk assessments, and compliance program effectiveness activities.

Manages Trinity Health’s annual conflicts of interest disclosure process for boards of directors/trustees and senior executives. Coordinates the follow-up and review of responses with management, Legal, Tax and Regional Health Ministry representatives. Prepares written reports on the results of the conflicts of interest disclosure process for review by senior management and governance. Monitors and reports on changes to laws, rules, and regulations affecting conflicts of interest disclosure process. Develops management plans for disclosed conflicts. Serves as a point of contact for questions related to conflicts of interest process and related policies.
Administers system-wide monthly and annual screening of Trinity Health colleagues, medical staff and vendors for eligibility to participate in federal health care programs. Coordinates screening activities with System Office and Regional Health Ministry contacts and prepares periodic reports on the results. Monitors and reports on changes to laws, rules, and regulations affecting screening activities. Identifies and implements operational improvements to screening process based on changes in law and regulation and organizational changes. Serves as a point of contact for questions related to the effects of exclusion and the exclusion screening process. Coordinates with management, Legal, and RHM Integrity & Compliance Officers to develop corrective actions for identified excluded individuals and entities.
Assists management in the reporting of ICP activities to Trinity Health senior leadership and the Organizational Integrity & Audit Committee of the Board of Directors, including the development and preparation of written reports, [dashboards] and presentations. Serves as Trinity Health liaison to Regional Health Ministry Local Compliance Officers. Coordinates the reporting of compliance related activities and issues by Regional Health Ministries to System Office leadership and governance. Represents Trinity Health in RHM Local Compliance Committee meetings. Participates in responding to inquiries from RHM representatives regarding compliance program related requirements, activities and issues. Facilitates the dissemination of information related to the ICP, such as regulatory changes, new and emerging issues, regulatory and enforcement activities, and compliance initiatives. Stays abreast of industry and compliance changes.
Assists management with compliance program development activities related to Accountable Care Organizations. Develops compliance program materials, including Compliance Plan, Code of Conduct, policies and procedures, and other guidance. Advises RHM Local Compliance Officers on compliance requirements for Accountable Care Organizations.
Conducts research related to existing, new and emerging regulatory requirements and issues impacting health care provider compliance programs as assigned. Assesses impact on Trinity Health operations in consultation with System Office departments, service organizations and Regional Health Ministry Local Compliance Officers. Prepares written memorandums summarizing issues identified, their application to Trinity Health and recommendations for consideration of management.
Assists management in the development and maintenance of Trinity Health system-level policies and procedures supporting the operation of the ICP.
Assists management in conducting annual and periodic risk assessments in support of the Trinity Health ICP. (Risk assessments consider legal and regulatory compliance risks applicable to Trinity Health operations as identified by DHHS – OIG, CMS, DOJ as well as input received from internal Trinity Health stakeholders.) Prepares written reports and presentations on the results of risk assessment activities.
Collaborates with management in the development and performance of activities to assess the ongoing effectiveness of Trinity Health’s ICP. Provides support in monitoring changes in laws, regulations and business ethics practices impacting corporate compliance programs. Assists management in ensuring the ICP fully meets all requirements for effective corporate compliance programs as established by health care industry regulators. Supports management in the development and implementation of programs and initiatives that maintain and improve the performance of the ICP.
Conducts compliance audits, investigations and special projects as assigned.
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws/regulations; the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or Business Law or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Masters or professional degree in law, business, or health care preferred.
Must possess detailed knowledge of Federal, State and local laws and regulations impacting health care corporate compliance programs
Minimum of six (6) years relevant experience in health care compliance or equivalent work experience demonstrating knowledge and understanding of the laws and regulations impacting the health care provider industry, specifically health care corporate compliance programs.
Certification in Healthcare Compliance (“CHC”) designation or willingness to obtain certification within two (2) years of hire.
Must possess good organizational and planning skills as well as the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Must possess ability to manage large processes and proactively develop and direct solutions.
Must possess strong written and oral communication skills. Must be able to communicate in clear and concise terms to management, governance and professionals at all levels of the organization.
Must possess a working knowledge of the Internet and research software tools and processes.
Must possess strong problem solving, conflict management and consensus building skills.
Hourly pay ranges: $46.30 - $69.46
