SAIC Systems Engineer Senior Principal in CLEVELAND, Ohio

Description

SAIC is seeking a highly experienced Space Systems Engineer to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio in support of the Glenn Engineering and Research Support (GEARS) contract at NASA Glenn Research Center. We are looking for experienced leadership to support the Stirling Technology for Advancement of Radioisotope (STAR) Power System Project, jointly conducted by NASA and DOE. The goal of this project is two-fold: to raise the technology readiness level of Stirling-based dynamic power conversion technology and to demonstrate operation during a space flight. The Space Systems Engineer will bring rigor and excellence throughout the full system design life cycle.

Scope of Work:

The Space Systems Engineer will lead and guide the STAR Power System technical team of civil servants and contractors through the SDLC performing such activities as

  • Executing and/or facilitating technical trade studies, analyses, and assessments

  • Providing SE&I support to the Project Manager for planning and execution of project schedule, technical reviews, and documentation.

  • Identifying and documenting Stakeholders and stakeholder expectations.

  • Developing and documenting the interface control documents and specifications.

  • Performing requirements assessments and developing system requirements.

  • Developing a Systems-level Concept of Operations.

  • Leading Assembly, Integration, and Test efforts.

  • Oversee Requirements Verification and Validation.

  • Supporting ERBs as needed.

  • Makes program risk assessments and provides actionable recommendations to the chief engineer and program manager.

  • Work is onsite at GRC.Remote is not an option.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience

Desired Education:

  • STEM Degree (or equivalent experience in a relevant field)

Required Experience:

  • Successfully lead a small and agile integrated product team (IPT)

Desired Experience:

  • Familiarity with space flight system/vehicle development lifecycle

  • Familiarity with NASA technology readiness levels (TRLs)

  • Knowledgeable of NPR 7120.5, NPR, 7123.1, and related Glenn Research Center development policies and procedures

Clearance:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
