POSITION SUMMARY: The Staff Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager. Located in Cleveland, OH. Full-Time Hybrid We have an exciting opportunity to join the accounting department of SS Kemp, a division of TriMark USA in Cleveland, OH for a degreed accounting or finance professional beginning their career. This individual will be responsible for preparing journal entries, detailed reports, account reconciliations and assist the Accounting Manager with general accounting duties. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: Daily general accounting tasks, organizing and maintaining financial records. Assist the calculation and preparation of sales reports and commissions. Month-end close activities including account analysis, reconciliation, and journal entries. Help analysis of financial statements for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting & procedural standards. Assist sales tax compliance. Assist with budget preparation through preparation of periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs. Backup to other Accounting department positions Other ad hoc projects or tasks as assigned to support finance objectives. Protects Company's value by keeping information confidential. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities. COMPETENCIES: Attention to detail and accuracy a must. Strong analytical skills. Solid math skills and ability to reconcile information. Basic understanding of business and economic accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis of financial data. Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, & Outlook. Easily learn and adapt new skills. Excellent communications skills both written and oral. Strong organizational skills. Understanding of databases and queries desirable. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent Military or practical experience. CPA, CMA, MBA, or pursuing a professional designation. Up to 2 years of accounting or finance experience, including internship experience. 6-months experience working heavy data entry with emphasis on timeliness and accuracy. Exposure to large Enterprise Resource Program (ERP). Ability to successfully pass a background check post offer acceptance.
