The Sherwin-Williams Company Senior Database Engineer in Cleveland, Ohio

The Senior Database Engineer role designs and develops robust and reliable database management systems that are secure, reliable, meet the organization's needs. They will develop logical processes on technical platforms, build windows, screens and reports, and provide expertise in devising, negotiating and defending the tables and fields provided in the database. By doing so, they bring significant value to the organization by ensuring that business operations run smoothly and efficiently. The incumbent's main responsibility is to ensure that the data is managed optimally, and that business operations can access and use it with ease, reliability, and security. The incumbent works collaboratively with cross-functional teams that include developers, data analysts, data scientists, business analysts, and other relevant stakeholders within the organization. Design and develop database management systems, standards, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables Document and communicate database designs to relevant stakeholders and analyze the impact of the data architecture Code complex programs and develop logical processes on technical platforms Create logical data models and implement standards for data naming and database design Design user interface and business application prototypes Participate in quality assurance by developing and testing database code in client server environments Adapt business requirements and develop data, database specifications, and table and element attributes for applications Develop an understanding of the organization's data and storage mechanisms Determine appropriateness of data for storage and optimum storage organization Determine how tables relate to each other and how fields interact within the tables for a relational Education Required Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or Information Systems, or in lieu of a degree, at least 7 years of experience in the field of database engineering and administration Preferred AWS, Azure, Cloud, or Database Management and Analytics certification Knowledge & Experience 4-6 years of experience in database engineering and administration Knowledge and experience with database design, implementation, documentation, and management In-depth understanding of database management systems, data structures, and data modeling Experience translating business data needs into technical language Ability to deal with large pool of data often unstructured coming from disparate sources Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, or Microsoft SQL Server Experience with coding languages such as SQL, PL/SQL Knowledge and experience in database performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and data security practices Technical Skills Programming Languages Database Management Systems Software Development Lifecyle (SDLC) Methodology Project Management Methodology Cloud Technologies & Platforms Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) Data Analysis Data Warehousing & ETL Processes Database Performance Tuning, Backup & Recovery Strategies DevOps Methodology Emerging Technologies and Automation Tools Containerization Preferred Experience with Oracle eBusiness Suite R12 Experience with Oracle Database 19c and/or Autonomous Database This position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H1-B visa.
