Job Description To support our ongoing growth, we are looking for a Database Administrator with extensive experience in MySQL and PostgreSQL. The Plex Cloud Operations department takes great pride in being a part of a continuous improvement culture, and as a data services team member, you will meaningfully contribute to operationalization of state-of-the-art , leading-edge software and adoption of open-source technologies. You will run scalable, reliable, and secure applications while helping improve the delivery of our products. You will join a team to ensure that issues are resolved as efficiently as possible, with minimal customer impact. You will report to the Manager, Data Services - Plex. Your Responsibilities: Implement and maintain database server KPI monitoring/alerting Chart database utilization over time to identify optimal scaling opportunities Database bottleneck identification and corrective action Suggest modifications/optimizations (to Developers) for tuning SQL statements and stored procedures In-depth query execution plan expertise Lead regular weekly discussions regarding MySQL and PostgreSQL instances with members of data services team Perform post-incident customer impact analysis as well as monthly application availability metrics Install and configure MySQL 5.7 to current Install and configure PostgreSQL 12.0 to current Implement database maintenance routines Participate in On-Call rotations Troubleshoot a variety of database issues Access management Maintain backups and integrity checks Participate in off hours Maintenance windows Participate in multiple projects involving data services Work within a global team environment or independently to carry out tasks as needed The Essentials - You Will Have: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related area or equivalent years of relevant work experience Legal authorization to work in the US is required- we will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, not now or in the future, for this job opening The Preferred - You Might Also Have: Typically requires 5+ years' experience managing a production system that is highly available and reliable, preferably 24/7 Experience managing MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL server in private datacenters as well as in AWS and/or Azure Proven history building automated solutions that enable resiliency and self-healing of applications Operational experience working with data technologies and managing large volumes of data Experience troubleshooting performance and tuning queries and stored procedures Strong SQL skills for writing and reviewing scripts Experience setting up backup schedules and securing data Experience building automation scripts for database server builds using terraform or ansible Experience with Operations technologies: Server Operating Systems (Windows Server, Linux); Virtualization Environments Additional experience with any of the following: MongoDB PowerShell Terraform Ansible Open-source technologies and cloud services: Azu
