POSITION OBJECTIVE
Working under limited supervision, the Radiology Technician is responsible for taking all panoramic and cone beam computed tomography radiographic examinations. Duties include assisting the pre- and post-doctoral dental students in taking patient X-rays in all clinics. This position is responsible for uploading the X-rays obtained from outside dental clinics/hospitals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist pre-and post-doctoral students in taking X-rays. Responsible for taking all panoramic and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) x-rays properly and uploading the scan to the picture archiving and communication system (PACS) and x-drive promptly. (61 %)
- Prepare x-ray rooms and equipment on a daily basis. Maintain and stock all the supplies that are necessary for the daily activity. Calibration of the CBCT scanners per manufacturer¿s recommendation. (6%)
- Liaison with the Radiation Safety Office to report equipment repair, removal, or installation. Assist the school¿s radiation safety officer to ensure that the school complies with the Ohio Department of Health. (6%)
- . Assist in research work such as scanning skulls. Other tasks related to department duties such as billing. (6%)
Provide backup for the supervisor in their absence. Assists in developing and/or reviewing clinical policies, standards, and methods of operation in the clinic. (6%)
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ordering of all radiology supplies, and mechanical parts as needed. Maintain competence, and quality assurance in the operation of the departmental radiographic machines, including CBCT machines. Coordinates with vendors, inspection agencies, and university-related employees to ensure smooth functioning (5%)
- Perform other duties as assigned. (5%)
Responsible for the operation of all processing equipment in all clinics and notify the proper department of any problems so that repairs can be made. (5%)
CONTACTS
Department: Daily contact with cashiers, dispensary staff, receptionists, and clinical instructors. Contact with department chair on an as needed basis to exchange information.
University: Contact faculty and staff on an as-needed basis to exchange information.
External: Contact with private practitioners, patients, and vendors on a daily or as-needed basis to exchange information.
Students: Daily contact with students to exchange information.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: 2 to 3 years of experience in digital oral radiographic techniques.
Education/Licensing: A valid Radiology certificate is mandatory and must be renewed according to Ohio Department of Health guidelines. Dental Assisting Certificate from an accredited institution. Hepatitis B vaccination in accordance with Ohio State Dental Law. Must attend annual blood-borne pathogens and laboratory safety training at Occupational Health and Safety.
