Description JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Unit Process Manager, assists in the planning, organization, and coordination of the operation and maintenance of one or more wastewater treatment processes. Ensures that unit process activities result in following the operational guidelines established by others. Provides technical assistance as directed to plant personnel, consultants, and engineering staff. Supports unit process start-ups and shutdowns. Assists with process performance monitoring, chemical feed adjustments, sampling and testing. Collaborates with various departments, manufacturer's representatives and consultants to complete technical projects. Supports the development and preparation of reports for internal and external use. Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Works with other employees to complete projects of a technical nature. Utilizes resources necessary to accomplish project goals, such as people, technology, materials, etc. Projects may involve research, data collection and sampling, analyzing processes, and other duties. - Assists in the organization and allocation of resources (people and materials) in advance of unit startups to ensure efficient coordination of activities of one or more wastewater treatment processes to achieve designed operational results. - Works with other employees to collect, organize, review, analyze, interpret, summarize, and manage data and information. Creates various written documents, including logs, spreadsheets, and reports. Checks reports and calculations for quality, accuracy and completeness. - Ensures sampling and testing activities are performed correctly. May prepare and perform unit process sampling and analysis. Assists with the preparation of samples to be transported to Analytical Services for analysis. - Assists in the review and evaluations of unit process performance efficiency and quality. Analyzes equipment malfunctions and their impact on unit process. Makes recommendations for improving operation and efficiency of plant processes. - Coordinates the preparation of work requests and discusses equipment malfunctions with Plant Maintenance Managers and Plant Administration. - Assists in the collection of information by observing samples taken during the testing processes and recommends chemical feed adjustments as needed to achieve designed operational results. Employs proper verification procedures. Maintains quality control records and control charts on analysis. Calculates and records test results and confirms if they are within normal limits. Validates sample results against method-specific quality control and checks data and calculations for accuracy. - Works with other employees to inspect instrumentation, calibration curves, and analytical techniques to verify reliability and accuracy. Helps identifies faults in equipment, reports malfunctions and anomalies, and assists in diagnosing problems in processes. Checks that all supplies and materials are available and orders from stockroom as needed. - Monitors levels of material inventory such as chemicals, sampling and testing supplies. Coordinates delivery and the shipment of process area chemicals and necessary stock item inventory, and equipment needed for sampling. - Supports the evaluation and development of operating guidelines. Provides training to District staff on equipment operation and process quality related technical matters. Explains theory and practice of technical topics, systems, and/or operational procedures to non-specialists. Maintains strong communication links with District departments and consultants about testing experiences and performance data. Communicates progress updates to management and project stakeholders in a timely manner. - Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUC
