Ohio Means Jobs Cleveland|Cuyahoga County is sourcing material handlers/production assistants for a local steel processing plant.  Both second and third shifts are available.  Newly-hired workers will complete orientation & training on 1st shift and move to 2nd/3rd shift when complete. Position Responsibilities: Workers will be cross-trained on a machine to perform and assist with multiple tasks throughout the day to ensure safe and quality production. • Moves and stages material as scheduled for optimum machine efficiency • Packages finished product for shipment • Follows bill of material to match product with proper packaging and skidding • Performs multiple tasks to ensure ongoing machine operation. • Performs miscellaneous tasks throughout plant to ensure safe, efficient and quality production of materials • May perform housekeeping duties within the plant when necessary • Performs other duties as assigned (e.g.  package/band material, weigh, load/unload material from machines and stage material, set up machines for running, move material around the plant with a forklift and/or crane) Qualifications: Required: • be able to handle physical, repetitive work, stand on foot for up to 12 hours a day be able to work in extreme temperatures (seasonal high heat/cold exposure). • have manual dexterity, fine motor skills and good hand/eye coordination needed • be capable of heavy lifting (up to 50lbs) and reaching overhead • have full mobility, including extensive walking, use of stairs, ability to maintain balance and walk on uneven surfaces, is required. • follow all safety policies and procedures • good safety awareness and efficiency skills • be able to fulfill training requirements and adjust schedule according to changing production demands, including weekend or overtime work. Preferred: •Mechanical aptitude • Forklift and overhead crane license or certification • 0-6 months prior experience in a fast-paced and detail-oriented role, preferred • OSHA safety training, but employer will provide If this role is something you are interested in, but your previous experience doesn't exactly align, this employer encourages you to apply.
