Hours : 8am – 5pm (Monday – Friday; could also be 830am – 530pm)

Pay : $16 - $17/hour depending on experience

Parking : You will pay for parking unless you use public transportation

HEALTH WELLNESS SERVICES - FRONT DESK CLERK

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Performs day-to-day office functions, such as scheduling appointments, maintaining electronic medical records, ordering supplies, processing bills for payment, assisting with insurance claims, and answering incoming calls.

  • Assists with clerical needs for outdoor screenings and immunization clinics.

  • Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The performance of the duties outlined below must be carried out within the mission of the University: to help create an effective learning environment for students; to treat all persons with dignity and respect; and to actively demonstrate an attitude of willing service and teamwork:

  • Performs day-to-day office functions, including greeting patients, scheduling appointments, maintaining and filing electronic and paper medical records, and answering incoming calls. Manages patient demographic data including insurance information.

  • Maintains counter workstation as necessary. Responds to email inquiries from students and staff

  • Helps sign in patients for screenings and vaccination clinics. Generates needed requisitions and specimen labels.

  • Assists with insurance questions. Utilizes knowledge and understanding of medical terminology and insurance procedures to act as a liaison between the patient and insurance companies as needed. Also assists with the Student Health Insurance program.

  • Assists with data management for phone monitoring of students who are quarantined or in isolation as needed.

  • Helps order supplies utilizing MagnusMart and process bills for payment as needed.

  • Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of basic medical routines and terminology.

  • Knowledge of standard office and recordkeeping procedures.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good communication skills.

  • PC proficiency.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to multi-task.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 6 months experience in a medical setting.
