Cleveland Clinic Electrician in Cleveland, Ohio

As an Electrician, you will play an essential role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of electrical systems at facilities throughout our organization. As part of your responsibilities, you will:

  • Conduct preventive maintenance on generators, ATS switches, VFDs, pumps and motors.

  • Install, repair and maintain a broad range of electrical systems according to applicable codes and regulations.

  • Repair failed system components.

  • Record all work in our work order system.

The ideal future caregiver is someone who:

  • Has completed a 5-year apprenticeship in the electrical trade.

  • Has worked for 5 or more years in the electrical trade.

  • Has experience working with a wide range of systems and electrical equipment.

  • Can troubleshoot and analyze electrical problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and performs electrical equipment maintenance, installations and modifications according to applicable codes and regulations.

  • Coordinates and performs testing of electrical systems as required by codes.

  • Troubleshoots and analyzes electrical problems.

  • Maintains operational knowledge of electrical systems within the facility and the content of engineering drawings.

  • Assists contractors with locating and avoiding hidden electrical circuits.

  • Performs and develops preventative maintenance measures for electrical equipment in compliance with applicable codes and standards to ensure operational readiness and performance.

  • Work may occasionally be assigned across multiple Cleveland Clinic locations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • High School Diploma / GED or equivalent required.

Certifications:

  • Certificate from an approved electrical apprenticeship program or trade school preferred.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

  • Ability to read/comprehend blueprints and use of testing devices. Knowledge of Microsoft software.

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a fully qualified electrician.

  • Military experience such as Construction Electrician (CE), Engineman (EN), Interior Electrician (12R), Electrical Systems (3E0X1) or similar will be considered.

  • Experience with multi-phase systems of low and high voltage.

  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints. Knowledge of Microsoft software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical physical demands require full body motion, including ability to perform work while bending, stooping, stretching and climbing ladders.

  • Requires dexterity and strength sufficient to operate required tools and machinery.

  • Typically required to lift and carry machinery and/or equipment weighing 25 to 100 pounds and/or assist with lifting weights exceeding 100 pounds.

  • Requires color acuity sufficient to distinguish color-coded signage and systems.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
