Cleveland Clinic Autism Classroom Behavior Technician in Cleveland, Ohio

Cleveland Clinic's Children's Hospital for Rehabilitation is looking for multiple Autism Classroom Behavior Technician's at level 1 or level 2.

Placement will be determined based upon experience and requirements outlined below.

Our facilities are dedicated to treatment, education, and research for children, adolescents, young adults and families dealing with autism spectrum disorders. The Lerner School is a full year center-based program that utilizes the principles of ABA. The school serves students diagnosed with autism ages 2-22. The Autism Therapist position is full time, salaried position with benefits.

Preferred Qualifications:

*Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Psychology, Social Work, Education or closely related field

*Educational Aide Permit (EAP) through the Ohio Department of Education

Autism Classroom Behavior Technician I

Acquires baseline data and implements approved program using behavioral technology. Follows and implements a behavior plan, consistently redirects challenging behavior, and implements PTT techniques. Creates monthly summaries and progress reports. Maintains professional communication, and follows student's daily schedule. Implements student's IEP, creates and updates daily data sheets, identifies programs that require troubleshooting. Makes appropriate changes to student's curriculum.

Responsibilities:

  • Acquires baseline data and implements approved program using behavioral technology appropriately, neutrally and consistently.

  • Follows the prompting hierarchy.

  • Utilizes SDs that are clear, concise and consistent.

  • Prompts during small group instruction.

  • Follows and implements a behavior plan.

  • Consistently redirects challenging behavior when appropriate.

  • Correctly implements PTT techniques.

  • Maintains neutrality when working through challenging behavior.

  • Creates monthly summaries and progress reports.

  • Maintains professional communication (written and verbal) with families and co-workers.

  • Follows student's daily schedule.

  • Creates and prepares materials. Implements student's Individual Education Plan (IEP). Creates and updates daily data sheets.

  • Identifies programs that require troubleshooting.

  • Meets with coordinating teacher to choose next targets.

  • Makes appropriate changes to student's curriculum.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.

  • Offset: HS diploma/GED and at least 2 years of relevant experience which includes at least 3 months of ABA experience

Certifications:

  • Educational Aide Permit (EAP) through the Ohio Department of Education: permit must be pending prior to start date; or Ohio Teaching License (OTC).

Work Experience:

  • None required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting students, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination, physically able to manage students of varying weight and sizes.

  • Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing. Personal

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Autism Classroom Behavior Technician II

Works with a variety of students and across functioning levels. Utilizes prompt fading, naturalistic teaching, shaping and chaining procedures, leader-prompter model and group reinforcement during group instruction. Selects appropriate task analyses and teaching targets, monitor student's programs and prepares lesson plans. Collects and analyzes behavior data. Acts as a mentor for new staff and attends home visits

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Implements discrete trial teaching procedures across a variety of students and functioning levels; utilizes prompt fading, naturalistic teaching, shaping, and chaining procedures; utilizes leader-prompter model and group reinforcement during small group instruction.

  • Selects appropriate task analyses and teaching targets based on student's goals/objectives; monitor, analyze and troubleshoot programs; align students' curriculum to work in a dyad; prepare lesson plans incorporating Ohio academic content standards and appropriate materials.

  • Collects, analyzes and maintains behavior data; implement differential reinforcement procedures; apply schedules of reinforcement; utilize functional communication teaching.

  • Acts as a mentor for new staff; develops graphs for parent communication; attends home visits; assists with student transitions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.

  • Offset: CBT II - HS diploma/GED and at least 2 years of relevant experience which includes at least 6 months of ABA experience

Certifications:

  • Educational Aide Permit through the Ohio Department of Education: permit must be pending prior to start date or Ohio teaching license.

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate actions in volatile situations.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of six months of experience working with children with autism utilizing applied behavior analysis or a Teaching License in related area plus minimum of three months of experience working with children with autism utilizing applied behavior analysis.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting students.
