Fairview Hospital's Progressive Coronary Care Unit (PK2) is a telemetry unit focused on providing excellent, high-quality care to cardiac patients. Caregivers in this unit are highly engaged and maintain a wide knowledge base with a special emphasis on cardiothoracic surgery, dysrhythmia management, telemetry monitoring, and heart failure. By taking this opportunity, you will join a team that promotes continuing education and embodies the concepts of teamwork, communication, and collaboration to maximize patient outcomes and expectations. Caregivers have the opportunity to identify, develop, implement, and monitor interdisciplinary quality improvement processes to improve outcomes and more.

A caregiver in this position works 7:00PM - 7:30AM or 11:00PM - 7:30AM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Support the Nurse Manager with supervising and supporting RNs and other nursing support caregivers.

  • Supervise admissions, conduct assessment of patient's needs and initiate nursing care plans.

  • Evaluate and document patient progress.

  • Facilitate the planning, implementation, development, and evaluation of nursing programs, initiatives and objectives for the unit.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.

  • Serve as a liaison between the manager, caregivers and other areas within the organization.

  • Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in a unit.

  • Prepare schedule of work assignments assuring adequate coverage.

  • Participate in and support quality improvement projects, outcomes studies and research initiatives.

  • Assist in orienting new caregivers.

  • Participate in continuing education and in-service educational programs.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN).

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

  • Two years of recent clinical nursing experience.

  • Strong demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
