Case Western Reserve University Assistant Director of Prospect Management and Research in Cleveland, Ohio

POSITION OBJECTIVE  The assistant director of prospect management and research facilitates prospect activities for assigned schools/college including directing the activities responsible for prospect management, moves management and proposal pipeline maintenance and management. The assistant director will be responsible for maintaining standards for information storage regarding these areas. The incumbent is responsible for implementing and managing the model and policy for prospect management where prospect identification, research, tracking and moves management are closely related with proposal production and ultimately dollars raised. The assistant director will also be responsible for supervising the maintenance of current and accurate information in the Ellucian Advance prospect management system for assigned schools/college. The assistant director is responsible for creating and distributing prospect and proposal reports to all relevant development staff in a timely manner. The position is an integral part of the leadership of the Advancement Services unit and is responsible for working with the various fundraisers in the University Relations and Development division to provide a consistent flow of viable prospects in support of Case Western Reserve University fundraising efforts. The assistant director will work strategically and synergistically with the staff in the Advancement Services department, the assigned schools/college, and with central development and unit-based development personnel to accomplish the goals of the position. This position is also responsible for performing data mining and research functions to assure that new prospects are consistently entering the university prospect pipeline. The assistant director reports directly with the associate director of prospect management and works with the chief development officer and their supporting fundraising professionals and staff at assigned schools/college in the development and implementation of research and prospect management activities in accordance with the university's current and future strategic initiatives, including campaign planning and strategy. This position involves regular and extensive interaction with the highest levels of university leadership, including university administration, trustees, deans, faculty, staff, students, and alumni of the university. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  1. Proactively identify, provide in-depth research, and assess new prospects and help expand, prioritize, and organize the prospect pools for assigned schools/college for various constituencies (alumni, parents, friends, corporations, and foundations, etc.). Acquire and analyze financial information. Evaluate, organize, and edit data into comprehensive, standardized profiles when appropriate. Compose biographical profiles on current and potential Case Western Reserve University trustees and on potential recipients of awards. Compose profiles on companies with giving potential and/or a vending relationship with the university. Participate in task forces to expand prospect pools for assigned schools/college beyond the traditional alumni-oriented methods. Provide metrics regarding the effectiveness of these expansion methods. Interact with senior university development offices, university trustees, and major donor volunteers to provide the most complete and informed biographical, giving, and financial information for use in special gift ($10K - $99K), major gift ($100K - $999K), and leadership gift ($1M - $4.99M), principal gift ($5M-$9.99M) and concierge principal gift ($10M+) solicitations. Provide an inflow of campaign and/or university priority-initiative prospects and gauge the rate of inflow into these pipelines to maximize solicitation dollars so that these dollars have maximum impact on attainment (20%). 2.
