Insight Credit Union Accountant I - Clermont in Clermont, Florida

Currently looking for a skilled Accountant with experience in accounts payable, reconciliations and general accounting functions.
The
accountant is responsible for providing accounting support to managers in the accounting department as well as other departments within the Credit Union. This individual must be able to work within a team-based, cross-functioning environment while maintaining a high level of integrity and organization is essential.
Schedule:
Shift includes
32- 40 hours per weekbetween
Monday - Friday (8:30am - 5pm). Hourswill be based on the needs of the department.
Functions and Responsibilities:
- Cross functional, team environment responsibilities include but are not limited to: Card Settlement balancing, Corporate Account balancing, Off-Trial Balance Loan balancing, monthly income statement accruals, and Check 21 balancing.
- Perform general accounting functions to support supervisors and provide accurate financial information; assist with month end closing process, post/prepare journal entries and complete Month End Financial reporting.
- Prepare/maintain daily general ledger reconciliation, researching, tracking, and resolving any variances between reports and general ledger activity, and wire funds.
- Analyze current accounting procedures to recommend, develop and implement improvements.
- Perform other job-related administrative tasks as may be required from time to time, some often on short notice.
Experience:
Three years to five years of similar or related experience within a financial institution.
Education: Associate's degree in accounting
, Finance or related field or equivalent work experience.
Interpersonal Skills:
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary. Must work well both independently and in a team environment

Other Skills:
- Working computer knowledge, including proficiencies in Microsoft Office with a focus in
Microsoft Excel.
Fundamental understanding of income statement and balance sheet.
Knowledge of credit union finance, data processing and other back-office operations.
Knowledge of the fundamentals of the financial industry, including an understanding of
the Federal Reserve system; the check clearing process; and the legal theory of negotiable
instruments.
- Experience with Fiserv DNA, Wisdom and Nautilus and A/P preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements: This
is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending as necessary.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
