ARAMARK Student Sustainability Operations Intern - Clemson University in CLEMSON, South Carolina

Job Description

The Sustainability Operations Intern is responsible for assisting the Sustainability Manager to ensure Aramark/Clemson Dining?s Sustainability needs are met. This position will primarily assist with all current and future dining strategy implementation as it relates to Sustainability within Dining Services. The Sustainability Operations Intern must be a student at Clemson University in a related field and possess excellent customer service and verbal communication skills. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by Aramark location based on client requirements and business needs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with managing waste diversion program

  • Research sustainability ideas from other universities/industries for possible implementation

  • Act as a liaison between Clemson University and campus partners, students, and community members.

  • Adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation

  • Ensures security of company assets

  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

  • Find opportunities to collaborate with community and campus partners.

  • Attend weekly staff meetings and regular weekly project team meetings.

  • Develop a basic knowledge of sustainability and environmental principles.

  • Other duties and tasks as assigned by manager

Qualifications

  • Must be a current Clemson University student pursuing a degree in a Sustainability or Environmental Sciences related field.

  • Professional interest and enthusiasm in environmental education, community engagement, leadership, and sustainability.

  • Organized and efficient worker; ability to keep track of multiple projects and tasks

  • Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling of up to 25 lbs.

  • Candidate must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Proficient in MS office

  • Ability to work both independently and on a team

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
