Pharmacy Technician
Job Description
We are seeking an Order Entry Pharmacy Technician to join our Hospice team. The ideal candidate should be comfortable entering prescriptions and navigating computer systems.
Responsibilities
Complete accurate data entry of patient information including billing/payer information and prescriptions into the pharmacy application.
Access and navigate through other clinical programs as needed for informational purposes.
Utilize various software applications including Microsoft Office and the pharmacy dispensing system.
Prepare medications for dispensing, including non-sterile compounds, unit dose medications, blister/bubble packaging, multi-dose adherence packaging, and traditional vial dispenses.
Stock automated dispensing machines and generate reports to assist with inventory management in the inpatient setting.
Generate various reports such as statistical pharmacy volume reports, inventory reports, controlled substance usage reports, MedSelect reports, and other requested reports.
Track prescriptions needing signatures for verbally agented Schedule II medications and report to the Pharmacy Manager if a signature cannot be obtained after 7 days.
Triage incoming phone calls and route them appropriately.
Essential Skills
Data entry
Pharmacy order entry
Proficient computer skills
Registered Pharmacy Technician license
Pharmacy technician certification (CPhT)
Prior authorization experience
Experience in a hospital or similar setting
Work Environment
The position is located in a closed-door pharmacy environment. Work hours can vary between Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, and Saturday/Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
