Honeywell Heat Treatment Lead Engineer in Clearwater, Florida

As an integral member of the Materials Engineering team at Honeywell Aerospace, you will lead aerospace level heat treatment functional group. You will apply deep experience leading teams through complex solutions in creation of new and innovative products. You use refined project leadership skills to influence teams that solve various materials challenges.

Located at the Honeywell Aerospace engines campus in Phoenix, Torrance or South Bend Honeywell site, this Aerospace Materials Engineering position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate strong impactful leadership in the area of Heat Treatment

  • Use deep hands-on experience with aerospace processes leading engineers to solve all types of process challenges with strong team and project leadership skills

  • Recognize processing history in the substantiation results and explain meaning of the results to upper leadership, peers, and to early career engineers

  • Lead development of engineers to understand process solutions to progress process development

  • Use a data science approach with materials science principles to develop and execute design of experiments using computational materials software (ICME)

  • Use deep practical experience with suppliers to readily understand their challenges, articulate robust guidance for solutions, and effectively relay supplier experience to the Honeywell designers for improved manufacturability

  • Develop strategic relationships with adjacent engineering and business organizations leading achievement of Honeywell objectives

Salary Range: $117,000 - $146,000

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelors degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Bachelor of Science Manufacturing Engineering

  • 10+ years' experience demonstrating both hands-on process and technical expertise mixed with process development, problem resolution and design requirement definition

WE VALUE

  • Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering degree

  • 10+ years experience demonstrating both hands-on process and technical expertise mixed with heat treatment process development, problem resolution and design requirement definition

  • 7+ years experience with a large variety of engineering substantiation projects with demonstrated competency in training and coaching engineers in this subject

  • 5+ years experience leading project teams in developing materials solutions and/or problem solving complex materials challenges

  • Expert level knowledge of the typical materials systems used in the aerospace industry (steels, Ni-base alloys, Al-based alloys, Ti-based alloys, oxygen-compatible alloys, etc.)

  • Expert level knowledge of brazing, carburizing, nitriding, and HIP.

  • Understanding and working knowledge of AMS industry specifications, Aerospace Quality system AS9100, and NADCAP AC7102 requirements

  • Expert level knowledge of pyrometry standard AMS2750

  • In-depth experience providing technical guidance for selection and use of metals in aerospace product applications, in accordance with Honeywell and industry specifications and requirements

  • In-depth experience performing drawing reviews to ensure customer and internal material and process requirements are properly incorporated into Honeywell designs

  • Significant experience with data science

  • Strong competency in simulation computational software

  • Evidence of strong refined leadership and mentoring experience in technical materials project execution

  • Ability to analyze and communicate complex results to key stakeholders to influence decision making

  • Excellent communication at all levels with demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional, technical audience including Chief engineers and technology Fellows

  • Individuals who are self-motivated who consistently take the initiative to get things done and influence others to achieve on-time commitments and on-plan execution

  • Ability to consistently make timely decisions even in the face of complexity, balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness

  • Ability to cope with high demand environment where priorities change frequently, and multiple projects are being worked at the same time
