Indorama Intermediate Chemicals is currently looking for a dynamic individual to work as a HR Generalist located in Clear Lake, TX. In this role, you will serve as the frontline interface of HR with Clear Lake’s senior leadership and employee population. The HR Generalist will serve as a strategic business partner and will support various HR functions including recruitment, compensation, employee relations, benefits, performance management and training.

What will be expected from you?

  • Work closely with site leadership and employees to develop credible relationships allowing for better decisions and organizational effectiveness.

  • Delivers Human Resources solutions that help drive the business and culture by providing HR support for the business operations.

  • Participate with recruiting programs (interviewing and screening candidates) along with onboarding and pre-employment support.

  • Assist with New Hire Orientation for new employees along with various HR training and development initiatives.

  • Interpret and assist with the effective communication and understanding of HR policies and procedures.

  • Conduct complex/sensitive employee related investigations and perform advanced employee relations activities including support and counseling for job-related conflicts, problem solving and dispute resolution, managing employee performance issues, review, and assessment of termination requests, and conducting exit interviews.

  • Collaborates with HR team to provide innovative solutions and drive execution of strategies.

  • Serve as local HR contact for employee benefits and payroll questions, coordinating with centralized HR service center and payroll teams as necessary, and coordinate benefits enrollment meetings, communications, and leave of absence programs and processes.

  • Provide guidance to management and associates on human resources issues and to ensure compliance with all state and federal employment laws and programs.

What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?

  • Bachelor’s degree in business/Human Resources, Master’s degree a plus.

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive HR professional experience, ideally from a Chemical/Oil & gas-oriented business, with a combination of corporate and business unit line experience preferred.

  • Proven HR Generalist skills including employee relations, employment law, employee engagement, compensation, performance management, recruitment, and training and development.

  • Ability to deliver HR programs to effectively address business issues.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, problem-solving and decision-making skills, and ability to handle sensitive situations/documentation.

  • SPHR or PHR is preferred.

  • Demonstrated relationship and influencing skills that will be effective in a complex, rapidly moving organization.

  • Diplomatic approach with proven ability to effectively deal with conflict. A skillful team player with the ability to network effectively up, down and across the business and viewed as a credible advocate for multiple parties.

  • Possess thought leadership and personal ownership mentality. Holds self-accountable for achieving individual and team performance goals.

  • Exceptional coaching, strategic consulting, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proven ability to handle confidential information and situations with complete confidentiality and discretion; must be able to adhere to a philosophy of fairness in balancing the needs of the company and the employee. Strong model of integrity.

  • Excellent communication skills; articulate, possessing both credibility and integrity with proven experience in developing, preparing, and delivering presentations to senior management.

  • Experience working and managing in a diverse environment with demonstrated comfort working with union and non-union associates.

  • Must be able to thrive under pressure with competing priorities and demonstrate a balance of assertiveness, confidence and be a self-starter.
