Job Title: Director of Yearbook Operations

Location: This position is based in Clarksville, TN.

Typical/Expected % Of Overnight Travel: up to 15%

ABOUT YOU:

Join Jostens as a leader of the yearbook and commercial book making manufacturing (prepress, press, fold, cover, bindery)! In this key role, you will be responsible for delivering volume, on time delivery, cost, quality, and safety to plan. You will plan, direct, and coordinate all manufacturing and production activities for the Clarksville, TN facility.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • BA or BS in management, manufacturing technology, engineering, or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated experience and results in an operations turnaround assignment

  • 10 plus years of related experience leading printing/manufacturing operations, including progressive management experience

  • Commercial printing/manufacturing operations experience

  • In-depth understanding of printed product manufacturing or comparable management experience in settings with mass customization, seasonal employment and/or short-run manufacturing

  • Demonstrated ability to satisfy multiple competing demands (sales, customers, and employees)

  • Financial planning and control experience, with P&L accountability

  • Experience with capacity planning, process and reporting improvement initiatives.

  • Demonstrated continuous and process improvement successes and commitment to quality processes

  • Demonstrated ability to create and/or manage a diverse workforce

  • Ability to integrate contemporary technologies into manufacturing processes to improve productivity

  • The ability to assess and identify needs in talent and the organization, and demonstrated leadership abilities to develop manufacturing human resources

Preferred:

  • Diverse operations and/or supply chain experience and accomplishments across multiple world class companies and industries

  • Experience in a Shingo Prize, ISO 9001, or similar system of best practice

  • Experience in multiple business units (Quality, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Customer Service)

  • Experience working in a startup or business turnaround assignment

  • MBA

  • Six Sigma and/or Lean Certification

    YOU WILL:

  • Lead efforts in all areas of Operations. This includes developing and executing objectives, goals, strategies, and measures and deliver results. Exceeds goals for safety, quality, cost, delivery, operational excellence, and growth. Lead regular strategy deployment & reviews for the operations team to ensure attainment of results while instilling a sense of urgency with respect to strategy implementation priorities.

  • Influence. Passionately drive lean business system culture and lead development and implementation of the roadmap to achieve continuous improvement and ultimately breakthrough performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost reduction. Lead operations’ journey and further develop our operational excellence culture leveraging Lean 6 Sigma, Employee Engagement and Hoshin Planning.

  • Drive manufacturing efficiency and assess opportunities to reduce cost, taking aggressive action to drive financial performance in the areas of direct and indirect labor, manufacturing overhead cost, and inventory levels. Drive continuous improvement throughout the operations, leveraging Lean 6 Sigma, technology, automation, etc.

  • Create. Establish, maintain, and deliver a multiyear pipeline of Cost Improvement Projects (CIP’s) and initiatives. Establish production and manufacturing methods and measures to ensure high quality and efficient costs processes are utilized.

  • Update and maintain. Ensure key manufacturing metrics, key performance indicators (KPI), systems / tools are consistently tracking the appropriate measures and provoking appropriate responsive behavior or corrective action.

  • Improve. Drive rapid, significant, and sustainable process improvements resulting in on‐time delivery improvement and reduction in lead‐time

  • Strengthen. Ensure effective allocation of resources across all areas of the operation to accomplish customer‐driven priorities.

  • Manage. Lead, develop and improve the plant’s operations management team and foster a culture of development and learning through floor supervision and team leads. Oversee and direct the recruitment, selection, training, and development of operations staff. Ensure that successors are identified and are developing at an appropriate rate for all critical roles.
