Prysmian Group Draw Process Technician - Automation in Claremont, North Carolina

Position: Process Technician – Automation

Reports To: Maintenance Manager

Position Description:

  • The person shall provide Daily Advanced equipment and controls support to the urgent needs of the Fiber Drawing Process

  • Complete Troubleshooting of machines using electrical schematics, Equipment Manuals, PLC software and SCADA

  • Work with the process engineering staff to resolve production issues

  • Work with technical staff to improve/implement changes to PLC/SCADA controls relating to the Draw process

  • Work with Automation team to escalate issues when not able to be solved along with working to standardize equipment and machine software

  • Attend weekly Automation and Draw Process Control meetings

  • Ensure all product meets requirements as defined by the Plant’s Quality Management Systems

  • Comply with all applicable safety procedures and ISO14001 EMS guidelines

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or a member of management

Education:

Required:

  • Relevant technical degree or equivalent experience

Preferred:

  • Associates Degree in Engineering or technology

  • Licensed Industrial Tradesman

  • NCDOL Journeyman Apprentice – Trade Skills Program

Experience

Required:

  • Must complete OJT for specific job classification, as required, in a timely manner

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with DMAIC methodology for problem solving

  • Ability to deploy/download PLC software and diagnose software issues

  • Basic Competency in PLC programming software (Schneider Concept and Unity)

  • Capability to do mid level equipment troubleshooting using electrical schematics, equipment manuals and/or diagnosis using PLC/SCADA software

Skills/Attributes:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Excellent Skills with Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Word

  • Detail and quality orientated

  • Analytical technical problem solver

  • Motivated team player

Ability to work with little supervision
