Role Summary/Purpose:
The VP, Reliability Engineer leads a team of reliability, software and systems engineers to build and run enterprise-level, highly distributed, and fault-tolerant systems. This leader ensures that the organization's solutions maintain all necessary service levels (availability, stability, and reliability) to meet the company's servicing objectives and customers' needs. A unique combination of software engineering and platform engineering skills and experience enables the VP, Reliability Engineer to oversee not only the availability and stability of mission-critical applications, but also the constant release of new capabilities on those applications, while maintaining that high standard.

Essential Responsibilities:
Architect the reliability engineering goals and processes for digital solutions, particularly the ones hosted on e-Commerce platforms, to ensure the highest level of systems availability, stability, security and performance.
Establish a program that will lead to operational efficiency, increased resiliency and a culture of continuous improvement.
Direct the monitoring and alerting - to track and report adherence to service SLOs and SLAs.
Establish platform health reporting guidelines and communication plans.
Drive technical innovation and efficiency in application and infrastructure operations via simplification and automation.
Coordinate between infrastructure, platform and application subject matter experts to promote reliability efforts through communication and best practice sharing.
Lead Operations Engineering during application and underlying framework end of life (EOL) requirements/opportunities, continuous capacity management, and associated investment plans.
Research and recommend evolving technologies.
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum 8 years of combined experience in application development and support for associated infrastructure OR, in lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED 10 years of combined experience
Minimum of 8 years of experience in full stack development using Spring, other JEE technologies, Spring REST API and UI technologies and frameworks
Minimum 6 years of experience in application design
Sound grasp of SRE concepts like SLOs, resilience, scaling, performance, etc. and the DevOps culture
Knowledge and experience in build, deployment and operations of large-scale distributed, microservice oriented applications
Strong interpersonal communication skills with ability to explain, influence and negotiate
Proven results in a drive towards a culture of constant improvement in programming and systems efficiency
Desired Characteristics:
Working knowledge of fintech Industry as it relates to consumer financing
Experience with solutions built on hosted e-Commerce platforms
Deep Agile expertise
Critical thinking and creativity
Experience building and deploying application on Cloud platforms
Expertise in mobile solutions including native and mobile web
Extensive experience with integration, testing and releases across complex distributed systems
Grade/Level: 12
The salary range for this position is 130,000.00 - 210,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
