Terrasmart Staff Accountant in Cincinnati, Ohio

Position Summary The Staff Accountant assists in financial activities of the organization, including SOX processes, account reconciliations, sales/use tax, AR monthly reporting. Has an overall understanding of accounting processes/procedures, with a focus on continuous improvement. Reports to Controller. Primary Responsibilities (Essential Duties)

  • Perform monthly close activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting; includes preparing monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and reports in coordination with the finance team.
  • Assist in managing the AR and Revenue processes.
  • Own the Sales and Use tax process including filings, review of tax exemptions, and validation of tax rates for our Estimating group.
  • Assist in the enhancement, development, and implementation of process related initiatives related to month-end close, financial reporting, business operations and process improvement.
  • Recommend new ideas for continued process improvement in both the accounting and operations areas of the business.
  • Analyzes records of present and past operations, trends and costs, estimated and realized revenues, administrative commitments, and obligations incurred.
  • Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.
  • Assist the Controller in managing SOX controls procedures and audit requests.
  • Assist in monthly reporting submissions to corporate parent company.
  • Administers company credit cards and associated processes.
  • Manage Business Licenses and renewals.
  • Analyzes the effects of transactions upon account relationships.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting
  • 2 Years of Experience in Accounting

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required
  • Epicor (ERP System), Sales and Use tax experience a plus
