General Responsibilities:

Serve as a senior manager and mentor in the Environmental Department. Manage all aspects of environmental projects to ensure that they are safely completed on time and within scope and budget. Responsible for completion of the project per its contracted scope; monitoring progress, and performance against the project plan, including resource management, project scheduling, budgets, and forecasts, and working with external vendors, subcontractors or contractors. Troubleshoot and recommend or resolve operational problems and minimize delays. Conduct meetings and prepare reports to communicate the status of projects to project team and clients. Set priorities, assign tasks, and coordinate project staff to meet project targets and milestones. Serve as a direct contact to communicate with the client and deliver work products to satisfaction of client. Establish professional relationships with clients to maintain and grow services provided to the client. Actively engage in client-development activities, including professional networking events, meetings, and conferences to establish relationships and develop new clients. Coordinate with Authorized Project Reviewers (APRs) and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to engage them throughout the projects, particularly at critical junctures.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of a large-scale and complex project.

  • Work with clients or National Account Managers to define project scope, schedule, and budget

  • Lead interactions with client and stakeholders to ensure their goals are considered in execution of the work

  • Design, communicate, and implement project plans for completing projects

  • Lead safety efforts including preparation and compliance with approved safety plans

  • Resolve operational problems and minimize delays.

  • Identify, develop, and gather necessary resources to complete the projects

  • Prepare designs and work specifications; develop schedules, budgets, and forecasts; select materials, equipment, project staff, and contractors

  • Estimate costs, resources, and time required to complete projects

  • Prepare forecasts for expenditures and manage scope and schedule to meet budget

  • Monitor activities, allocate resources, and assign tasks to ensure targets are met

  • Partner with other departments or offices to secure specialized resources as needed

  • Conduct project meetings and prepare reports to communicate project status within and beyond the project team

  • Coach and mentor project staff and assist them in solving problems

  • Coordinate with APR to ensure appropriate oversight is in place and sufficient time allowed for quality reviews

  • Coordinate with accounting for financial management of business intelligence, invoicing, and collections

  • Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk. Be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company. Be familiar with company risk policies.

  • Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines. Create and model a safe work environment; demonstrate safety practices. Promote pre-task planning for all projects

  • Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor quality standards and practices. Engage APRs on projects at their onset.

  • Demonstrates a strong interest in brownfield redevelopment, including grant management

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline practices by the Firm including Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology, and a minimum of 10 years of related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 14 years of related experience.

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.

Preferred Experience:

  • Complex Phase I and Phase II due diligence

  • Environmental remediation

  • Human Health Risk Assessments

  • Indoor air/groundwater/contaminant migration modeling

  • Tank closure, assessment, and remediation per Ohio Bureau of Underground Storage Tank Regulations

  • Brownfield assessment and remediation within the Ohio Voluntary Action Program

  • Familiarity with SPCC and SWPPP

  • Client Management

Preferred Certification:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • Professional Geologist

  • Authorized Project Reviewer status.
