Job Summary: This is the third level of the 3 classification hierarchy. Employees at this level manage all facets of more complex load research studies and oversee work needed to provide analytical support and reporting related to researching load characteristics (load shapes, system Peaks, system minimums, etc.) and customer usage patterns. Incumbents are expected to work independently and be able to manage large volumes of data and research/understand historical load patterns, changing customer trends (related to weather, technology, efficiency adoption, etc.), and other analyses that are fairly complex and varied with minimal supervision and increased latitude for un-reviewed work. They are fully competent in matters on customer usage data collection and statistical analysis. They provide technical expertise, identify problems and develop solutions with minimal supervision to support load research, regulatory filings, resource planning, financial planning, rate design, cost of service work, and other areas that require load or customer data. Often this position will serve in the role to correspond with commission staffs, intervenors, or provide expert witness testimony in regulatory proceedings. They are also expected to have advanced analytical skills and have the ability to collaborate with management and work independently. Responsibilities: Leads or provides Load Forecasting analytics and resolution of business needs. Ensures business goals and objectives are accomplished through leading or providing effective market insights, planning, organizing and work monitoring. Leads or prepares thorough and accurate Forecasting of customer growth, sales, peaks, EV adoption, solar adoption, or other items that impact customer usage of energy. Forecasts are well documented and reports to internal and external parties are complete and easy to understand. Develops positive working relationships using effective oral and written communication skills while representing the company in a positive and professional manner. Strives to continually improve Forecasting business processes, procedures and performance. Basic/Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Economics, or Other Related Degree. Minimum 7 years Required Related Work Experience Desired Qualifications: Strong written and interpersonal communication skills. Problem solving and demonstrated experience in leading projects (or other team members) and implementation skills. Demonstrated quantitative modeling and economic or financial analysis experience. Quantitative modeling, forecasting, or financial analysis, including exposure to forecasting software, techniques or education. Exposure to regulated utility rate making and cost recovery rules, and/or regulated utility planning processes Experience with back testing forecast models, understanding actual adoption, and identifying the main drivers which drive forecast accuracy. Experience developing and managing large volumes of data and/or database relationships. Experience in Load Research techniques for analyzing customer usage data. An understanding of customer usage patterns, and how those patterns can be influenced or changed. Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex quantitative issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
