The Christ Hospital Health Network Health Unit Coordinator-Emergency Department in CINCINNATI, Ohio

Title: Health Unit Coordinator

Shift: Part Time, Evenings

This position will be scheduled approximately 12 hours per week and will be located in the Emergency Department at The Christ Hospital Health Network (TCHHN) located at 2139 Auburn Ave. Cincinnati Ohio 45219.

Unit Description: Specializing in adult cardiac care and complex internal medicine, Christ Hospital's 33-bed emergency department includes some of the most experienced and trusted emergency care specialists in the area, including: board-certified emergency medicine physicians, trauma surgeons, nurses, physician assistants and social workers. The department has a high acuity patient population and an all-RN nursing staff. It's a fast-paced environment and requires excellent critical thinking skills.

Job Overview: The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) will greet visitors and assist them as needed. Provide the clerical support to the clinical team in carrying out the daily functions of patient care. This position provides the pivotal communication link for processing information/requests to and from patients, staff, visitors, physicians, and other departments or agencies. Has responsibility for initiating and/or ensuring the data entry of patient related functions/ processes, as well as the management (maintenance) of the medical record and its related forms, documents, from admission to discharge. Communication is culturally based and age-specific.

The Health Unit Coordinator may perform the following duties:

  • Maintain positive customer relations in daily contact with physicians, visitors, patients and others. Keep Clinical Manager/staff informed of issues.

  • Computer responsibilities as assigned

  • Chart Responsibilities as assigned

  • Maintain environment/supplies/equipment

    Education: High School graduate or GED

    Experience:

  • Competent in reading at the 9thgrade level.

  • Competent in Math at the 7thgrade level.

  • Skilled in medical terminology preferred.

  • Ability to work within a team and accept delegated duties.
