Fairbanks Morse, LLC FEC - Painter in Cincinnati, Ohio

Position Title: Industrial Painter Reports To: Director of Operations Position Summary: Federal Equipment Company has been a leading supplier for marine deck machinery and specialized weapons and material handling systems. The company, now part of Fairbanks Morse Defense, is rapidly growing and in need of an Industrial Painter. The Industrial Painter will be responsible for painting in accordance with MIL-SPEC, customer specifications and company requirements. FEC offers a unique working environment that allows a hands-on individual to develop and grow as the company expands its footprint and maintains high performance as a trusted defense contractor. Key Responsibilities:

  • Cleans parts, manually, or with steam or chemicals, prior to painting or other activities.
  • Set up, maintain, and operate equipment such as HVLP paint guns (gravity fed and pressure fed equipment) paint mixers, mil thickness gauges and other paint measuring equipment and other general shop equipment and tools to complete work assignments.
  • Mix and apply various topcoat finishes within thickness requirements (polyurethanes, epoxy, lacquers, clears, (gloss, semi-gloss, and flat finishes)
  • Identifies and implements practices and procedures to improve production standards (paint yield, efficiency, rework, escape rate, etc.).
  • Cleans, masks & paints parts per internal/customer process specification along with verbal instructions.
  • Assists in monitoring shelf life, lot trace including maintaining department min/max inventory levels to ensure product availability (paint, primer, gloves, solvents, etc.).
  • Selects & mixes coating material along with the basic understanding of various paints, primers & other chemicals associated with defense coatings.
  • Completes efficiently and timely all administrative tasks related to work orders & equipment maintenance. Maintains a clean and safe working environment by proactively cleaning equipment and paint booth area; complying with company polices.
  • Assists management and department personnel in the planning, organizing and scheduling customer orders.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years' experience preferred.
  • Ability to read manufacturing drawings.
  • Experience working with MIL-Specs (military specifications).
  • US Citizen
  • Valid Driver's License
