Location:Triple Creek Retirement CommunityText One Of Our Recruiters:Melissa (513) 647-4316What We're Looking For: The Dialysis Technician is responsible for direct patient care under the supervision and guidance of a registered nurse. The Dialysis tech will perform basic hemodialysis techniques and procedures, daily patient care and observations in addition to minimal water room testing. This position will conduct blood draw samples for transport to the laboratory, as well as performing simple and complex lab tests while maintaining the required quality controls. Other key responsibilities include: Participates in quality improvement activities to maintain patient care standards. Provides direct patient care, including performing patient treatment from start to finish and handling daily operations between the patient and dialysis machine. Opens and closes the unit and water room. Responds to machine alarms according to established procedures. Responds to emergency situations with appropriate treatment as directed by the RN. Assists in the patient discharge and transfer practices, as directed by the RN, including but not limited to gathering patient belongings and transporting patient to transportation vehicle, amongst others. Performs dialysis required laboratory procedures and quality control, including specimen collection, performing Hemoccult testing, blood sugar testing, completion of the laboratory request form and proper labeling of the specimen collected. Documents all care delivered to the patient according to established protocols. Participates in quality improvement activities, including voluntary unit council activities and unit work groups. Supports patient advocacy, patient rights and responsibilities and service standards. Follows established safety and emergency policies and procedures in daily practice or emergency situations including handling of equipment and supplies during emergencies. Attends in-service programs and uses job-related guidance assistance from supervisor. Successfully completes required annual competencies. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Valid and current CPR certification. Must have prior experience in a medical setting or customer service environment. One-year recent experience as a Dialysis Technician, Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, Phlebotomist, Surgical Technician, First Responder, EMT, ED Tech or LPN, Nursing Assistant preferred. Must obtain CMS recognized certification as a Dialysis Technician within 18 months of hire. Demonstrates basic computer skills and proficiency in MD Word and Outlook. Physical requirements Sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stretching, stooping, walking, and moving intermittently during working hours. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs. Must be able to maintain verbal and written communication with co-workers, supervisors, residents, family members, visitors, vendors, and all business associates outside of the health campus.
