Job Overview: Seeking a part time Dental Hygienist in the well respected Good Samaritan Free Health Center. Hygienists will work in proximity to the Dental Director, coordinating each patient's care. The hygienist will be able to schedule their own patients with autonomy. Heavy perio practice, and hygienist must be comfortable administering anesthesia. The work we do here is philanthropic in nature and allows you to practice dentistry as you wish. Our Dental Director is seeking the right fit for a long time partnership. Ability to speak Spanish would be an additional benefit but is not required. Job Requirements: Bachelor's Degree; Other Dentistry-OHIO Registered Dental Hygienist Up to 1 year Clinical; Other Must be licensed to practice in state of OHIO. Must have completed at least 2 years of post-secondary education from an accredited dental hygiene program. Trained to apply SDF or willing to take Basic Life Support (BLS) Active Dental Hygiene License Active Radiology License Job Responsibilities: Promotes dental health by completing dental prophylaxis, providing oral cancer screening and radiographic studies, charting conditions of decay and disease, and performing procedures in compliance with state and federal guidelines. Prepares treatment room for patient by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols. Prepares patient for dental hygiene treatment by welcoming, soothing, seating, and draping patient. Selects materials and equipment for dental hygiene visit by evaluating patient's oral health. Completes dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and from beneath gum margins. Detects disease by completing oral cancer screening; feeling and visually examining gums, using probes to locate periodontal disease and to assess levels of recession and exposing and developing radiographic studies. Maintains dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies. Conserves dental resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. Maintains instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting instruments. Ensures operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques. Works in collaboration with Dental Director to maintain the dental clinic, the instruments, and all clinical tasks. Comfortable working as an assistant for the dentist if required (and vice versa). Securely store and handle patient records in compliance with office policies and procedures and applicable legal requirements, such as HIPAA regulations. Accurately record medical and dental histories. Accurately file patient information in electronic medical record.
