Bon Secours Mercy Health Credentialing Coordinator- Mercy Health Bond Hill (Hybrid) in Cincinnati, Ohio

Required to work 2 days at the Mercy Health Bond Hill location and 3 days at home

Summary/Primary Purpose of the Position:

Supports the medical staff, serves as a liaison between the medical staff and hospital administration, and ensures that the medical staff is compliant with applicable hospital and Joint Commission regulations and standards. Provide assistance to physicians, hospital and network customers in a positive and helpful manner, according to established policies and procedures. Coordinate meetings and medical staff functions in a competent, professional and meticulous manner. Assist the Director of Medical Staff Services with projects and tasks as delegated.

Process physician & advanced practice clinician reappointments; annual medical staff dues, physician observation requests; respond to inquiries from other healthcare organizations regarding hospital affiliation verification requests; coordinate emergency department call schedules; process payments for medical staff committee attendance and call schedule assignments; coordinate medical student/resident rotations; coordinate CME activities; answer phones; assist customers; mail; order supplies; manage physician's lounge; coordinate annual Doctor's Day and Holiday Party.

Coordinate medical staff meetings. Send out agendas via Director's Desk and notices in a timely manner. Responsible for meeting material preparation and distribution; attendance at meetings, timely preparation of accurate and complete meeting minutes; management of manuals and electronic files; order food, room set up and scheduling.

Perform all other duties as delegated by the Director, Medical Staff, Medical Staff Officers and Administrative Staff.

Perform primary source verification on all required elements in accordance with the Mercy Health Credentials Manual and Joint Commission regulations. Analyze, compile and audit initial and reappointment practitioner files in accordance with the standards required by State, Federal and accrediting body regulations and Mercy Health Bylaws, while maintaining confidentiality. Appropriate follow-up is performed on files after completion, at request of site, in accordance with established policies & procedures

Track and monitor reappointment deadlines to distribute reappointment applications in accordance with required departmental timelines. Ensure that sites receive reappointment applications in a timely manner to process prior to Committee meetings and Board meeting.

Ensure that database is consistently updated as information is communicated by Medical Staff Offices and affiliated and employed physician offices to ensure all data is up-to-date, so credentialing system is always current.

Analyze and/or troubleshoot adverse or questionable information received and recommend follow-up actions. Advise Market Director and refer to Legal Services if so instructed.

Customer service, i.e., triage calls using discretion to determine if action is required; determine whether call is referred to another source, if more information is required (includes taking responsibility and providing appropriate information/follow-up when knowledgeable). Work with site Medical Staff Offices, applicants and credentialing offices and personnel with regard to questions and issues on files and determine whether further information is required. Maintains high level of professionalism, respect and customer service in all relationships with peers & customers, both internal and external, following standards set by Market Director, and provides outstanding customer services in all relationships within the Market and the Corporation.

Employment Qualifications :

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)

  • CPCS Certification or ability to gain CPCS within one year of eligibility, preferred.

  • 3–5 Years of office experience

  • Medical terminology and advanced computer skills . Must possess sound critical thinking and acute attention to detail.

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Internet/intranet, ability to access the internet and research relevant material as it relates to the current job.

Preferences:

2 year /Associates Degree in Business Administration or related field

Working knowledge of healthcare and credentialing industry
