The College of Medicine, Hoxworth Blood Center is recruiting a Cell Therapy Technologist 1 (Clinical Lab Scientist) in the Cellular Therapies Laboratory, to perform a moderate range of laboratory procedures. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff, and all our activities. Essential Functions Perform processing and cryopreservation of hematopoietic progenitor cell collections for bone marrow transplant patients. Perform routine cell processing operations and innovative cell selection techniques for the production of novel cellular therapy products for clinical trial use. Participate in laboratory operations that support clinical cell processing; maintaining supply inventories, perform equipment validations and quality control test procedures. Write Standard Operating Procedures, (SOPs), generate reports, etc. Comply with cGTP and cGMP regulatory requirements. Perform moderate complexity mathematical calculations. Report test results to healthcare professionals and respond to questions appropriately. Communicate effectively with clinical site personnel and other internal and external customers. Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time. Required Education Bachelor's degree in a Life Science. Required Experience Understanding of the fundamental concepts of laboratory practices (for ex: sterile technique, universal precautions). Possess essential computer skills, such as Word, Excel and Outlook. Additional Qualifications Considered Associate's degree in a Life Science and three (3) years of work experience in a laboratory setting.
