The Key Objectives: Rough carpentry work including in-wall blocking Finish carpentry including installation of doors, frames, hardware, ceiling materials, trims, and millwork Construct, install and repair structures and fixtures with wood, plywood, metal, and wallboard using hand and power tools Build rough wooden structures, such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters according to sketches and blueprints General partition layout along with framing and sheet rock installation Construct temporary protection including barricades, visqueen, floor protection, etc. Erect scaffolding for buildings and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms and gangways, install rough frames and brace them with boards nailed to framework, install subflooring in building, and weld parts to steel structural members Driving equipment, loading, unloading, and moving materials from within or near the construction site from pallets, skids, trucks, or other locations, as needed Brace forms in place using various means and building framework to strengthen and protect General clean-such as vacuuming, sweeping and trash removal to ensure safe and clean job sites are continually maintained Who Do You Work With: This role teams with other field staff and subcontractors. This position reports to the assigned Superintendent. Skills and Abilities: Safety First focus and mind-set Able to read and interpret construction documents and drawings Proficient at sawing boards and plywood panels to required sizes, bracing forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts, and building framework to strengthen, protect or disguise buildings that are undergoing construction Able to provide supervision to subcontractors and shift workers, as directed by Superintendent or Project Foreman Calm under pressure, balanced with a sense of urgency and commitment to get the job done well within committed deadlines Self-motivated yet effectively able to work as part of a team Able to lift, squat, and pull up to 100 lbs. with frequency throughout the day Education and Experience: At least 4 years of relevant experience in commercial construction, preferred OSHA 10 hour certified, preferred Operator's certificate, preferred Pepper Construction is an Affirmative Action /Equal Opportunity Employer
