Fairbanks Morse, LLC Assembler II in Cincinnati, Ohio

Assembler FEC / Fairbanks Morse is looking for a Professional Assembler capable of performing a variety of basic mechanical functions. This position involves the Assembly of Roller Curtain Doors, AWE Elevators, Davits, TKF Conveyors or Lifts, Hoists/Winches. Principle Duties and Responsibilities Wide varieties of functions are performed by the Assemblers

  • Assemble parts based on Line Item Numbers that correlate with a Drawing BOM
  • Assemble items following drawings and work instructions
  • Complete OQE
  • Sub-assembly and Large Assembly (torques, Loctite's, or anti seize sub-assembly)
  • Prepare for Shipping
  • Disassemble returns to evaluate, fix and refurbish items.
  • Work with QC to put reassemble and complete run-off testing
  • Housekeeping
  • Transporting parts between buildings/departments with fork truck/pallet truck

Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Quality/Continuous Improvement/Productivity Inspects own work - uses procedures where applicable, experience and proven techniques to develop assembly methods that are faster while maintaining necessary Quality Physical Requirements Job usually requires more standing than sitting - depending on the components being assembled, up to about half of the work can be done while seated. Since overhead and portable cranes are available in all work areas, Assemblers are not required to lift more than 50 lbs by hand will be trained on fork trucks and cranes for the larger items. Environmental / Safety Issues Keeps work area clean and free of extraneous materials. Spends 90% of time in Assembly work area. Ensures that all safety procedures are followed as stated on posted signs and in Company policy. Cross Training Cross trains on various positions in the Assembly Department Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • High school / Trade school graduate preferred.
  • Must have good eyesight and very good manual dexterity.
  • Candidates should be familiar with and capable of using hand tools.
  • Mechanical background a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality manuals and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read and interpret Blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of tight tolerance of parts.
  • Forklift training certificate or the ability to receive it .
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to perform simple shop math, convert decimals to fractional equivalents.
  • Must be able to identify and measure material.
  • Must bring or supply own basic hand tools (after few weeks on job)
  • Basic Hand Tools, Standard and Metric Wrench Set, Standard and Metric Socket Set, Standard and Metric Allen Wrenches, Screwdriver Set, Wrench/Pliers Set, Tape Measure, Dead blow Hammer, Ballpeen Hammer, Cordless Drill, Tool Box or Tool Bag.
