Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital Radiologic Technologist in Christiansted, Virgin Islands

[POSITION SUMMARY [These individuals performs procedures and examinations in a hospital or clinical environment in the treatment of patients. The work involves the operations of radiologic and film development, as well as the cleaning and disinfecting of equipment. *[POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""}]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""}]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""}* 1. Prepares room, equipment, medicine and material needed for the patients. 2. Cleans and disinfects X-Ray equipment. Assures that sterile supplies, contras materials or other required equipment are present and lay out. 3. Prepares patients for X-Ray; explains procedures, transfers patients to table, and positions them. 4. Adjusts equipment, determines proper voltage and desired exposure time; arranges immobilization ad support devices to obtain proper position of patients; adjust lead shield and select appropriate film. 5. Maintains records of patients examined, examinations performed, views taken, and technical factors used. 6. Performs other duties as directed. [REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS ]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""} 1. High school or equivalent and completion of a two (2) year or longer training program in diotherapeurtic technology which has been approved by the American Society of Radiologic Technologist, or the American Medical Association. 2. Professionally registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. . [REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES]{arial="" narrow",sans-serif"=""} Knowledge of radiation protection standards and the effects of X-Ray techniques of patients and operators exposure. Knowledge procedures used in performing radiologic technology. Knowledge of the human anatomy. Knowledge and skill in positioning of patients for a wide variety of difficult radiologic examinations. Knowledge of radiolographic exposures techniques and other accessories to produce radiographs of high diagnostic quality with minimum of retakes Knowledge to operate radiologic equipment skillfully and in a manner which avoids radiation injury to self and patients. Ability to detect faulty operations and conditions dangerous to patients, personnel and equipment. Ability to follow oral and written directions. Ability to relate with tact and understand to deal with parents, doctors, staff and all other persons contacted during the course of work. Ability to employ sound judgment in the planning and execution of assigned duties. Knowledge of the policies, procedures, rules and regulations that apply to the practice of in an inpatient care setting. Knowledge of hospital/departmental policies and procedures, emergency protocols, Joint Commission, Center for Medicare and Medicaid services and all other local and federal regulatory standards Ability to make presentations before management, public groups, and staff.
