McDermott Principal Subsea Engineer in Chiswick, United Kingdom
Job Overview:
Function as lead engineer on smaller studies, proposals and projects and/or as assigned by project manager in larger studies, proposals and projects.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Will be working under general supervision of a lead engineer or project manager
May be assigned as a lead Subsea engineer on a small project or segment of a larger multi-disciplines project. Oversee project progress and budget, monitors change orders and attend regular project meetings
May be assigned to work on complex Subsea projects with conflicting design requirements, unconventional materials or installation requirements
Provides technical guidance/coaching to Subsea designers and less experienced engineers
Research available Subsea hardware options as well as staying abreast of current design qualification efforts in industry in order to implement them into the field architecture
Develop innovative Subsea design, using new ideas and technologies and present these in white papers at industry trade shows
Generate cost effective field architecture design, interfacing with Pipeline, Flow Assurance, Riser Analysis, Marine, etc. as possible
Prepare design basis and project execution plan and approve project documentation
Manage multiple equipment packages, including perform and check bid evaluations, organizing meetings to ensure progress, review and approve vendor data, track vendor deliverables, assist in resolution of NCRs, tracking action items and handling the logistics of handing over hardware to client
Assign procurement packages and supervise packages of less experienced engineers
Prepare and check spec, datasheets, reports, technical notes, procedures Instructions and Notes to Bidders, RFQ and procurement packages for PO award and material requisitions
Provide bid engineering support and prepare CTR related to Subsea design and installation
Offshore support as required for the project
Stay updated on McDermott ISO 9001 procedures
Essential Qualifications and Education:
Minimum BS Degree in engineering(i.e.: Mechanical, Civil Structural)
10-15 years of professional experience in the offshore Subsea industry
Certification as Licensed Professional Engineer is preferred
Experience with Subsea equipment, design, testing, interface and installation. Experience in Subsea field development scenarios, riser and Subsea structure design and installation scenarios both in shallow and deep water. Primarily GOM
Knowledgeable of Subsea design codes (API, DnV, ASME, BS)
Must have good interpersonal skills and able to interface with Clients, Consultants, Vendors, drafting designer and other lead engineers in a multi-discipline projects
Must have good computer skills and be proficient on Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint.)
Must be organized both physically and in electronic data storage habits
Must have good writing and presentation skills, proficiency in project management
Has excellent work ethic and maintain a good work attitude
