TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION E280 Traffic amp; Maintenance Engineer (Transportation Engineer I, II, III, IV, V) Childress Dist HQ in Childress, Texas

Performs transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and/or maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.Essential Duties:Transportation Engineer I, II, III, IV, V:Performs planning work such as plan review, calculations and assisting in transportation planning studies.Performs engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Assists with design, computer operations and plan preparation.Negotiates fees, explains scope of work and monitor consultant design contracts.Represents the district at technical meetings and public hearings at local, state and federal and or international levels.Makes presentations and represents TxDOT.Monitors consultants' progress and work quality, checks invoices and associated documents; prepares supplemental agreements.Performs and/or coordinates the review and processing of Plans, Specifications Estimates (PSE) submissions, special specifications or special provisions.Reviews designs and detailed drawings of bridges and related structures prepared by other engineers and technicians. Trains engineering staff.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Additional duties for a Transportation Engineer II to include:Performs complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Performs complex planning work such as plan review, calculations and assisting in transportation planning studies.Additional duties for a Transportation Engineer III to include:Performs advanced and complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Performs advanced and complex planning work such as plan review, calculations and transportation planning studies.Additional duties for a Transportation Engineer IV, V to include:Performs highly advanced and complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Performs highly advanced and complex planning work such as plan review, calculations and transportation planning studies.
