Aston Carter Payroll Specialist in Chico, California

We are looking to add a dynamic payroll specialist to the team. This is a long-term opportunity with growth potential, flexible hours, benefits, and training available.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and maintaining employee payroll records. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.

Payroll Processing: Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll for employees. Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions as per company policies and legal requirements. Ensure timely distribution of paychecks or direct deposits.

Record Maintenance: Maintain and update payroll records, including employee details, salary changes, and other relevant information. Ensure the confidentiality and security of payroll information.

Reconciliation and Reporting: Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve any discrepancies. Prepare periodic payroll reports for management, including summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, and non-taxable wages. Assist with audits by providing records and documentation as needed.

Employee Support: Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and benefits. Provide support and guidance on payroll-related matters.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll processing.

  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or similar)

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.

  • May require occasional overtime during peak payroll periods.
