Description

The Therapist’s job is hybrid remote, and time will be split between employee’s home office, clients’ homes, and the Little City administrative offices in Chicago, Joliet, Matteson and Palatine.

PURPOSE:

Therapist will be responsible for the provision of clinical mental health services provided to children and teens in the Foster Care and Adoption program and mental health services provided within the community and billed to Medicaid and/or private health insurance plans.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The list of essential duties and responsibilities, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the task to be performed. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position.

  1. Carries a caseload of clients and families, assesses cases and develops treatment plans and service authorizations using Rule 132/140 Medicaid standards, implements service plans using individual, group, and family therapy, and routinely evaluates the progress of cases during treatment.

  2. Attend or request staffings, as necessary, as well as attend any other meetings related to the child for the purpose of coordinating interventions with the interdisciplinary team, including testimony in court.

  3. Provide consultation with other program staff, biological parents, foster parents, etc. regarding children’s therapeutic issues as needed.

  4. Documents contact with client, client’s family (clinical documentation requirements) according to Medicaid Part 132/140, agency, DCFS, and DHS standards. Title: Therapist-Part Time Page 2 of 3

  5. Attend and participate in individual and group clinical supervision on a weekly basis.

  6. Attend and participate in team and department meetings as scheduled.

  7. Maintain and increase clinical skills through training and research.

  8. Provide training to foster families, staff, and other service providers.

  9. Provide on-call crisis intervention and support on a rotating basis.

  10. Maintain an awareness of all safety activities in the area and immediately report all accidents and safety hazards to supervisor.

  11. Maintains a current American Heart Association certification in First Aid and CPR.

  12. Successfully completes Little City required training, re-training, and any additional training as required by Little City policies and practices, or as assigned by his or her immediate supervisor.

  13. Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A Master’s Degree in a clinical field (i.e. psychology, social work, counseling) required. Must have at least one (1) year of experience conducting individual, group and family therapy with children who have developmental, behavioral and/or emotional challenges. Must be capable of transporting children and traveling to homes within a 45-mile radius, possessing a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and current auto insurance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject to sitting, walking, and standing for prolonged periods; frequently grasps, lifts, holds, or feels objects; occasionally stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. The employee frequently is required to use manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination when working with persons served and handling office, medical, or household equipment. The employee is subject to assist and lift up to 30 pounds with varying amounts of assistance on an infrequent basis. The employee is required to have corrected vision and hearing within normal range and the ability to operate a motor vehicle. Must have the ability to perform CPR and CPI. Generally, no occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases or other potentially infectious substances, but may require performing unplanned Category III tasks (Category II).
