Pay Range: 23.12 - 36.41

Summary:
Acts as Senior Credentialing Coordinator for Medical Staff Services operations. Supervises and coordinates Medical staff credentialing activities; responsible for providing varied clerical support for the Medical Staff Office, including data entry and physician database maintenance (ECHO); credentialing processes and other duties that support various Medical Staff Office activities. Supports the Director and serves as effective liaison between the Medical Staff and Medical Center Administration; provides insight into Medical Staff organization, bylaws, rules and regulations, State and Federal Regulatory Agencies, accreditation compliance and other critical matters that affect the healthcare environment. Required Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from an accredited college or 5+ years credentialing experience in medical staff services.
• Certified by the National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) or willing to achieve certification within 3 three years.
• Medical Staff Departments - 23Medical and Professional Staff - 1450Average Applications in Process - 60 off peak; 120 peak Average Reappointments in Process: 800 Medical biannually; 550 Surgical Biannually Medical Staff Services Department: 2 credentialing coordinators/1 data analyst.
Responsibilities:
• Oversees, initiates, administers, verifies, compiles, manages and maintains confidential research required for credentialing of initial applicants (Physicians, Dentists, Podiatrists, etc., and Advanced Practice Providers.
• Process according to established legal, State and Federal agency, State licensing board, and TJC standards.
• Prepares and reports all research and forwards to departmental chairpersons, Medical Staff committees, and to the board for review and action.
• Coordinates tracks and monitors flow of information to ensure the timely processing and notification of applicants in accordance to guidelines outlines in the Medial Staff Bylaws.
• Manages, implements, coordinates, monitors, and maintains effective credentialing processes intended to appropriately credential physicians and advanced practice providers for reappointment and/or clinical privileges. Monitors the process by auditing credentials files, medical staff committee and department meetings to ensure timely and appropriate appointment and privileging activities.
• Provides accurate and timely reports to the medical staff and departments regarding all aspects of the credentialing privileging process, including all related reports.
• Initiates Credentials/MEC agenda and materials in preparation for committee review.
• Provides support to credentials committee and peer review committees as assigned in conjunction with the Director of Medical Staff Services.
• Keeps current with all accreditation standards and legal requirements related to medical staff affairs ensuring that operations conform to current and appropriate regulations and guidelines.
• Analyzes and reviews providers files and reports to Director any applicant issues /discrepancies identified. Forwards appropriate information to department chairman/legal affairs and/or risk management when appropriate.
• Provides mentoring, training and direction of credentialing duties and responsibilities, as well as processes to credentials coordinator to ensure efficient utilization and turn-around time. Acts as a resource to credentialing coordinator.
• Oversight of tracking compliance of credentialing expirables and annual mandates.
• Establishes timeline and trends benchmarks for onboarding and temporary privilege performance metrics.
• Leads preparations for various special events, social events including Annual & Biannual/Faculty & Medical staff meetings/Dinner and physician orientations.
• Develops and revises credentialing forms as necessary.
• Senior point person for external/internal accreditation requests to provide provider data
• Oversees entire faculty onboarding process to include agenda/tracking and File, scan and upload data for providers as needed.
• Supports the hospital philosophy, mission and values and adheres to the ICARE values.
• Administrative Support:
• Maintain office operations for Medical Staff Services Department to include oversight of phone coverage; mailbox and provider locker assignment and upkeep.
