Hyatt seeks an enthusiastic Sr Manager - Product Engineering, to join our Digital Product team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the digital, technology, and broader corporate functions, where you’ll be instrumental in continuing to make Hyatt a leading hospitality company. The Role
The Senior Manager - Product Engineering, will lead the engineering team through predictable, reliable, and scalable releases and partner with our product and design team. To create scalable products, they will work closely with back-end services teams, front-end designers, and product management. This individual takes a direct hand in the team's performance while remaining directly involved with development efforts. The team collaborates with the operations teams to build infrastructure and care for Hyatt.com and associated properties in the product as Tier 3 support.
•Manages the activities of a team of engineers focused on a specific product area. Evaluates and makes input into the staffing and technical aspects of the operating plans.
•Manages team in support of departmental objectives; seeks feedback from others to encourage collaboration.
•Effectively manages team workload.
•Collaborate with performing teams to deliver new capabilities in business applications and/or remediate issues. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.
•Identifies suboptimal technology/processes, evaluating potential solutions and implementing the best possible solution.
•Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills and can use business knowledge to guide team technical decisions.
•Ability to analyze workflow; delegate projects to team members to meet department goals.
•Manages others as direct reports and is responsible for coaching their career development and performance.
•Provide Tier 3 production support – guides more team members to help troubleshoot complex technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation.
Qualifications:
Experience Required:
•10 years of progressively complex experience in full-time development and leadership roles
•Proficient with Java, react js, next.JS, node, graphql, SpringBoot
•Excellent interpersonal skills required with a strong customer service orientation
•Is skilled and passionate about software engineering – specifically front-end and back-end web development, and someone eager to fill in the gaps in their toolbox
•Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team
•Experience managing multiple tasks at the same time
•Ability to adapt to a changing environment
•Maintains a positive attitude and a learning/growth mindset
•Likes the challenge of simplifying complex systems, and you always consider the big picture even when acting locally
•Has experience working in agile environments that have embraced DevOps and Continuous Delivery practices
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience
Experience Preferred:
•Master’s degree a plus
