UL, LLC Sales Director - Automotive Software & Consulting in Chicago, Illinois

The Sales Director will lead the Mobility Testing and Critical Systems business units sales organization and direct the activities of multiple sales teams. This role has overall responsibility for the successful sales of Consulting, Software Intensive Systems, multiple digital solutions, and traditional automotive Testing, Inspection, Certification (TIC) testing. The Director is a global role, with teams in the Americas, Europe, and Asia and will develop and execute long-term divisional sales strategy to achieve key business objectives..

  • Develops, communicates, and manages the successful performance of global revenue goals.

  • Understands and effectively leverages customer, industry, and internal sales information to drive performance and sustain a competitive edge.

  • Leads client engagement by developing and managing relationships at the C-Suite and middle management level for large customers.

  • Develops a full understanding and appreciation for account culture.

  • Directs the development and execution of customer relationship plans that detail business goals and strategies which deliver customer solutions.

  • Manages the performance of direct reports by developing accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing career counseling, feedback and guidance and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to.

  • Works closely with account managers across the globe to seamlessly work with customers throughout the sales cycle

  • Brings in additional technical resources (eg Solution architects, testing management or consulting management) when needed to support sales opportunities of all solutions.

  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices.

  • Performs other duties as directed.

  • University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor’s degree) in Engineering, Business Administration or a related discipline.

  • MBA is preferred.

  • 12 Years or more of transportation or medical sector B2B sales.

  • 5 Years or more of relevant sales management/leadership experience or demonstrated competency.

  • Familiarity with Salesforce and professional services fulfillment systems

  • Experience selling to transportation or medical sector OEM’s and suppliers the full portfolio of services.

  • Experience at an automotive professional services firm and/or large consulting organization

  • Experience in selling enterprise level digital solutions

  • Strong technical and business/economic foundation, including formal account planning, sales strategy development, sales tracking, and measurement.

  • Ability to interact with customers throughout all levels of their organization which include highly visible activities such as negotiating or presenting.

  • Requires a focused individual that has a clear vision and can think strategically.

  • Ability to work and lead in a matrixed organizational structure.

  • Total Rewards: Total Rewards: All employees at UL Solutions are eligible for bonus compensation. UL solutions offers a generous 401k matching structure of up to 5% of eligible pay. Additionally, we invest an additional 4% into your retirement saving fund after your first year of continuous employment. We provide Healthcare Reimbursement Accounts and Health Savings Accounts that UL Solutions contributes to twice per year! Depending on your role, you can work with your manager on flexible working arrangements. We also provide employees with paid time off including vacation, holiday, sick and volunteer time off.

Total Rewards: The salary range for this position is $144,000 - $192,000 and is based upon years of experience that is commensurate with the level of the position.

Members of the sales function are eligible to participate in the UL Solutions Sales Incentive Plan. The annual target incentive for this position is 50% of the base salary, paid quarterly, and is contingent upon performance. Employees are eligible for health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental & financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country, for the relevant position level.

We also provide employees at the Director with paid time off including vacation (20 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
