ROLE SUMMARY:

As an essential member of the Public Health Emergency Preparedness, Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP), the Project Manager under the direction of the Project Administrator (HPP Coordinator) is responsible for healthcare system planning and response in the city of Chicago through coordination of communication and capabilities projects of the local healthcare coalition. The Project Manager will oversee the requirements of the Administration for Strategic Preparedness & Response (ASPR) grant to ensure grant objectives and deliverables are met within the established timelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

· Works directly and collaboratively with acute care hospitals, healthcare partners, the Chicago Healthcare System Coalition for Preparedness and Response and regional and statewide partners to advance health provider/hospital disaster preparedness planning and response in both planned events and real incidents.

· Works collaboratively with Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) staff to meet aligned grant funded goals.

· Utilizes strong verbal, written and situational awareness tools and methods to analyze program needs and timelines, utilizing assessment tools and risk analyses.

· Provides oversight to assure scope of service progress occurs per ASPR grant preparedness objectives/deliverables and timelines, which include, but are not limited to: development of plans, procedures, exercises, training opportunities, project deployment and successful and timely completion of projects.

· Works with CDPH staff and delegate agencies to assure that grant mandated deliverables are verified, and reported to ASPR /HPP as required.

· Assures that performance management, training programs, exercises and improvement plans are completed.

· Utilizes project management skills, web-based computer programs and meeting planning and presentation abilities to perform job functions.

· Assumes on call responsibilities for both real and scheduled public health and citywide events.

· Functions in the role of HPP Coordinator in the absence of the Projects Administrator.

Additional duties may be required for this position.

Location: 1340 S. Damen Ave., 4th Floor, Chicago, IL 60608

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

*Some additional hours may be required in case of a public health emergency

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in business or public Administration or a field of study directly related to the responsibilities of the position.

Experience

Five years of project management work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

PREDERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Registered Nurse, Pharmacist, Respiratory Therapist or other clinical patient care provider

· Master's Degree in Public Health, Nursing, Public Administration, Business Administration or other healthcare advanced degree

  • Two years of acute care hospital experience, either as a clinician or preparedness program manager

  • Experience and knowledge in emergency preparedness & response planning

· Grants management knowledge, including programmatic experience with federal and or state grants
