Responsibilities
Ensures the quality of care in the use of radiation-producing sources and equipment is responsible for the provision of safety for patients and staff from radiation. Provides technical assistance in the development of treatment plans for patients undergoing radiation therapy; monitoring patients; maintain established policies, procedures, objectives, quality measurement and safety. Performs radiation control work related to the investigation, surveillance, inspection and registration of radiation and x-ray producing machines. Assumes the role of assistant of Radiation Safety Officer for Radiation Therapy and/or Diagnostic Departments.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
MS or PhD in Medical Physics or related discipline.
BLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire.
Knowledge of: basic theory and practice of physics; medical terminology relating to health/medical physics; common uses of radiation including hazards and preventative measures; radiation equipment.
Knowledge of federal laws and regulations relating to use of radioactive materials, radiation and x-ray producing machine.
Experience with Cyberknife/SRS preferred.
Required solid experience with Varian TrueBeam, HDR Varisource, Aria and Eclipse.
Required certification in radiologic medical physics by the American Board of Radiology - ABR.
